Puerto de Lorbe is a seafood restaurant tucked along the waterfront in Oleiros, just outside A Coruna. It offers a straightforward spot to enjoy fresh Galician seafood right by a small fishing quay. The setting blends casual local charm with a sense of being close to the source—the bay’s catch often ends up on your plate shortly after being pulled from the water.

The atmosphere here leans toward traditional and unpretentious. Expect a lively, no-frills dining room where service is friendly and attentive, though servers might be juggling plenty of tables during busy times, typical of many Spanish dining spots. Food arrives staggered, inviting you to fully appreciate each dish rather than racing through a meal.

The menu is unambiguously Galician, focused heavily on shellfish and other seafood. Highlights include a variety of mussel dishes—steamed, oven-baked, or in escabeche—and Galician staples like pulpo a la gallega (octopus) and paella de marisco. Portions are generous, making it a place to come hungry and share between friends or family. There’s also a mix of grilled fish and hearty preparations like rape a la cazuela (monkfish casserole with clams and prawns), reflecting the deep seafood tradition of the region.

Visits during daylight hours offer an additional perk: views over the fishing harbor where you can see boats coming and going. This enhances the feeling of dining close to the daily catch, with the ambient sounds of the quay and occasional sea breeze. Flies might be noticed around the outdoor areas, a reminder that this is a lively, working maritime spot rather than a polished tourist venue.

Puerto de Lorbe serves well for those who appreciate authentic, simple Galician seafood without the fuss. It suits locals and travelers who value quality and freshness, don’t mind the bustling service rhythm, and enjoy meals that unfold over a relaxed pace. The presence of well-priced regional wines, especially Albariño, and an assortment of beer options complement the tasting experience.

Great fresh food, freshly caught local seafood from right at the bay. Quite a few flies around but overall was very good.

My wife and I have been here several times and keep going back because of the quality and taste of the seafood. The service is very good and servers are helpful but, as is frequently the case in Spain, are covering a lot of tables. Regardless, they provide excellent service. I appreciate that they bring each dish out over time so that you can savor each one. The almejas a la marinera are by far my favorite. Most recently we were here in mid-August and it was packed. That leads to my slight ding on atmosphere because the top floor was pretty loud. The views are wonderful!

Second time I’d been there, 1st time few years back late at night, todays visit was early afternoon, really friendly people and very helpful. Great food at affordable prices together with good beer all with a view of a small fishing quay.

The best seafood I have ever eaten in a quaint small port setting. Also the lowest price I have ever paid. Excellent, friendly service.
